Meaning

What is H/9?

H/9 is hits allowed per nine innings. It scales hits to a full-game rate so you can compare pitchers who have thrown different numbers of innings.

Hits include singles through home runs. Unlike BAA, H/9 does not use at-bats — only hits and innings — so walks and hit batters don't shrink the denominator.
